Which airport should I fly to?

For northern safaris (Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Kilimanjaro) fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), about an hour from Arusha. For Dar es Salaam and the southern parks use Julius Nyerere International (DAR). For Zanzibar, Abeid Amani Karume International (ZNZ). We provide airport pick-up on every tour.

Do I need a visa for Tanzania?

Most visitors can obtain a visa on arrival at JRO, DAR and ZNZ airports, or apply online in advance through the Tanzania Immigration Department e-visa portal. Please check the latest requirements for your nationality before travelling.

When is the best time to visit?

The dry season from June to October is ideal for wildlife viewing and the Great Migration river crossings. January to February is calving season in the southern Serengeti. November to December (short rains) offers lush scenery, lower prices and fewer visitors.

Yes. Tanzania is a welcoming and generally safe destination. Take normal precautions with valuables, follow your guide's instructions on safari, consult a travel clinic about vaccinations and malaria prevention, and keep an eye on your government's travel advice.

What vaccinations do I need?

Visit your doctor or a travel clinic about three months before departure. A yellow fever certificate is required if arriving from a yellow fever country. Malaria prophylaxis, tetanus, polio and hepatitis A are commonly recommended.

How do payments work?

A 20% deposit secures your booking. The balance can be paid by bank transfer at least four weeks before the trip, by credit or debit card (5% processing fee), or in US dollars cash before the tour begins.

US dollars are widely accepted. We recommend bringing USD and withdrawing some Tanzanian shillings on arrival — ATMs are available at JRO airport and in Arusha.

Tipping is voluntary but customary. As a guide: safari guide US$20–30 per day per group, cook US$10–20 per day per group, porters US$5–10 per day per porter.

Absolutely. We run family safaris with child-friendly lodges and shorter driving days. Children aged 0–5 travel free, 5–10 at 50% and 11–15 at 75% of the adult price.

Tanzania offers good wildlife viewing year-round. The June–October dry season is popular because animals gather near water and vegetation is thinner. January–February often brings calving in the southern Serengeti, and the greener months offer lush scenery and excellent birdwatching. The best time depends on what you'd most like to see.

Two or three days give a good taste of the Northern Circuit, while around 5–7 days allow a more relaxed pace across several parks. Add extra days for Kilimanjaro or Zanzibar.
